Is my client data safe?
Yes. Your documents, drafts, and client files are stored in your account only and are never used to train any AI model. LegalDeskAI is built on privacy-first infrastructure — your data is yours.
What is MAYA and how is it different from ChatGPT?
MAYA is an AI assistant built specifically for Indian legal work. Unlike ChatGPT, MAYA understands Indian legal codes, integrates with your case files through SMRITI, and works across all 12 Quick Tools without you having to copy-paste content between tabs. It also does not train on your prompts.
What is SMRITI? Do I need it?
SMRITI lets you upload your own judgments, case documents, and drafts — then ask MAYA questions against that private library. It's useful if you want the AI to reason from your specific materials rather than only general knowledge. If you're just drafting or using Quick Tools, you don't need SMRITI on day one.
Do I need to install anything to get started?
No. LegalDeskAI runs in your browser — sign up and start immediately. NYAYA Desktop is a separate free download if you want offline Supreme Court and High Court judgment search, but the main platform needs nothing installed.
Is this for solo advocates or law firms?
Both. Solo advocates use LegalDeskAI for drafts, research, and client organisation. Law firms use it across team members, with each lawyer's SMRITI library kept private to them. Firm-level plans are available.
What happens when my free words run out?
You get 10,000 AI words free after signing up. When those are used, you can upgrade to a paid plan — pricing is public at legaldeskai.in/pricing. There's no automatic charge; you choose when to upgrade.

Founder's note
I have been a software engineer since 2008 and also trained as a lawyer. Most AI tools I saw in law were either research demos or generic chatbots with legal marketing.
LegalDeskAI exists because Indian lawyers deserve something quieter: private infrastructure, tools that respect your judgment, and an AI agent that understands how you actually work.
MAYA and SMRITI are my attempt to build that — slowly, carefully, and in the open.
